Giant oil lane in Grafenwörth: Fire brigade prevents environmental disaster!

Grafenwörth (Lower Austria): On February 26, 2025, the Grafenwörth fire brigade was alerted to pursue an oil track on the L45, which initially appeared harmless. But the reality was more alarming: Several hundred liters of diesel were discovered in the parking lot of a petrol station, which escaped from a defective truck. Our reporter Manfred Ploiner reported that the emergency services immediately took measures to contain the flowing fuel and prevent further spread into the ground. In view of the enormous amount, the fire brigade group of Feuersbrunn was also requested for support.

The firefighters from Feuersbrunn use a special pump to collect and store the majority of the diesel. With over a dozen sacks of oil binder, the Grafenwörther comrades managed to seal the area. Unfortunately, diesel had already reached the ground, which is why the district administration commissioned a civil engineering company in order to remove the contaminated layers of earth and have it properly disposed of. These quick measures had a serious risk to the environment.
