In the early morning hours of January 11, 2025, something happened in Söding-St. Johann, Voitsberg district, to a dramatic traffic accident in which three people were injured. According to reports from oe24.at, a 17-year-old driver lost control of her vehicle on a slight curve. The young driver was blinded by the low morning sun and darted into the opposite lane, where there was a head-on collision with an oncoming car driven by a 50-year-old. Both vehicles were thrown off the road by the impact.

The injured - the 17-year-old, her passenger and the 50-year-old driver - were immediately taken to the Graz University Hospital after initial treatment by the Red Cross and emergency doctors 5min.at reported. The Hallersdorf Volunteer Fire Department deployed twelve people to secure the scene of the accident and support the clean-up work. The police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, which was dangerous due to the glare from the sun.
