Linz is investing 2.4 million euros in new fire engines!

The city of Linz is investing in the security of its citizens: from 2027, four new armory (RLF) should replace the old models of the volunteer fire brigades. This measure, which is connected with a total of around 2.4 million euros, will be presented to the local council for voting on December 12, such as the Volksblatt reported. The decision to procure again instead of taking on used vehicles signals a strong commitment to the efficiency and operational readiness of the volunteer fire brigades, says Vice Mayor Dietmar Prammer.

The current armory vehicles have already reached a lifespan of almost 20 years and are to be replaced by modern, specially made vehicles. Each of the new vehicles will cost around 550,000 euros. The acquisition was decided by mutual consent by all government parties, including SPÖ, ÖVP, FPÖ and Greens, what the Linz is clear, such as the Meinverzirk reported. The new RLF will not only reduce the operating costs, but also significantly increase the punch of fire brigades.

sustainability and efficiency in focus

Security city council Michael Raml emphasizes the need for timely investments in the city's security resources. With a target service life of 25 years, the new vehicles should be able to react agile to a wide variety of applications, be it in the event of fires, technical assistance or complex emergencies. Fire director Stefan Krausbar emphasizes how important these armory extinguishing vehicles are as the first measures in operations. So rumors about campaign activities do not seem to have any influence on this important security decision, since the purchase is considered as a shoulder end of all parties.

"The planned investments are a central element of our work," said Günter Sueti, commander of the Pöstlingberg volunteer fire brigade. From 2030, a new vehicle is to be put into operation annually to ensure optimal equipment for the four volunteers in Linz. So the fire brigades are well prepared for all challenges.
