Flooding in Rinteln: water level rises to 6.64 meters – Advent magic canceled!

In Rinteln on December 13, 2024, the Weser shows its dangerous side: the water level has reached a threatening 6.64 meters, which leads to the highest alert level due to persistent heavy rainfall. To ensure safety, measures were taken, including the early termination of the planned “Rintelner Advent magic”. At this point, drastic flooding in the region is already considered a possibility, while the city administration urges people to avoid the inner city area in order not to hinder the emergency services Rinteln currently reported.

Urgent measures and warnings

The city has also kept the pedestrian zone free as an emergency lane to ensure access for the fire brigade and rescue workers. The fire brigade and police appeal to citizens to avoid unnecessary journeys and to only call the emergency numbers in urgent emergencies. A footbridge has been installed on Seetorstrasse to make it easier for people in the region to move around in times of threat. Due to the worrying situation, a flood protection system was also requested in order to better meet the challenges SZ/LZ reported.

Police have increased their presence to control access roads to the city center and ensure that only authorized vehicles have access. Numerous operations have already been carried out in this critical situation and a dike is on the verge of overflowing. Of particular concern is the flooding in residential areas, which has led to evacuations. Quick action is necessary here to bring the worsening situation under control.
