Large St. Martin train in Wiehl: 400 participants illuminate the streets!
Wiehl, Deutschland - Wehl shines in festive light! Over 400 participants gathered at this year's St. Martinszug, which turned the streets of the city into a sea of colorful lanterns. Children, parents and grandparents moved from the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Gymnasium to the Wiehlpark, and the anticipation was literally tangible. Organized by the Catholic parish of St. Mariä Himmelfahrt, the event was actively supported by the city of Wiehl, the fire brigade, the DRK, the police and local banks.
After a three -year break due to the pandemic and renovation work in the Wiehlpark, the return of the St. Martin's train was a complete success. With a clear focus on community and cohesion, the big move was the only Martinsfest in Wiehl. The municipal daycare center Sonnenhang decided to do without her own event to support the big train. The co -organizer Barbara Degener emphasized that the planning this time was much more smooth than in the previous year, when the parents had to choose between several events.
an unforgettable experience
The train began with a prayer in the Catholic Church, where the history of St. Martin came alive. The participants then moved through the city, led by St. Martin himself, represented by Sarah Friedrichs from Morsbach, who impressed Cheyenne with her horse. The train was accompanied musically by the Remperger trombone choir, which accompanied the festive atmosphere with its sounds. Once at the destination, a large Martins fire waited for the participants, which, despite a small shock in the planning, was quickly replaced.
The atmosphere was full of joy and sense of community. Weckmänner, warm drinks and bratwurst ensured the physical well -being of the participants, while they enjoyed the festive atmosphere. The St. Martinszug in Wiehl was not only a bright spot after the long break, but also a sign of cohesion and joy in the community. Further Martin trains will be on the program in the coming days in the Upper Bergisch, and the anticipation remains high!
