Fire brigade and police: A strong firefighting team!
A special winter training course for firefighters took place in the municipality of Poysdorf, which was organized by district fire investigator Martin Jilli. The lecture, which focused on the cooperation between the fire brigade and the police in fire incidents, illustrated the crucial role of the fire brigades in the investigative work of fire investigators. This was already demonstrated in a major fire in Kaufbeuren in June 2022, when the fire brigade and police worked hand in hand to deal with the situation with over 30 fire engines and 127 emergency services brand-feuer.de reported.
The training aimed to increase the efficiency of the operation by optimizing firefighting and subsequent investigation processes. It is important that the police and fire departments act together in an emergency, especially in situations where speed and precise action are of the utmost importance. While the fire brigade is responsible for extinguishing the flames, the police on site must secure the dangerous situation and support the investigation of the cause of the fire. This requires a high degree of coordination and mutual understanding, as shown by the results of Stephan Bockting's bachelor's thesis at the North Rhine-Westphalia University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration.
Close cooperation between the police, fire brigade and rescue services is therefore essential in order to save human lives and, in addition to fighting fires, to ensure successful evidence collection. In Poysdorf, this interdisciplinary approach is being further strengthened, which not only increases the efficiency of operations but also promotes trust between the emergency services. At a time when operations are becoming more complex, the need for such training is a right step towards mastering the challenges of the future.
