Fire in the silo: Fire brigade has been fighting flames in Erkelenz for days!

The hut burns in Erkelenz! Firefighters have been fighting a devastating silo fire since Monday, which presents the emergency services with an enormous challenge. Simple deletion was not possible, so it quickly became clear that this dramatic use would take several days.

The fire brigade from Dormagen, supported by teams from Mönchengladbach, Wegberg and Hückelhoven, has teamed up to fight the flames. To suffocate the fire, nitrogen was pumped into the silo to withdraw the oxygen and lower the temperature. And lo and behold - the plan seems to be going! This morning, the fire brigade began to drain the content from the silo, in which there are an incredible 1000 tons of rapeseed. A special snail was used to promote the fire light while the fire brigade ensures fire protection.

The way to the solution

The emptying of the silo is in full swing, and wheel loaders bring the rapeseed to a warehouse. But the drama is not over yet: the veterinary office now has to inspect the brand and decide what should happen with the 1000 tons of rapeseed. The cause of the fire remains a mystery - neither the fire brigade nor the employees can remember a similar incident. The investigation of the event will take some time, while the fire brigade continues to do everything possible to control the situation.
