Drama on Hemelberg: Fire brigade is looking for the injured person – where is the driver?

A dramatic accident kept emergency services in Waidhofen an der Ybbs and Reinhardshagen on tenterhooks. In Waidhofen, a driver went missing whose vehicle almost fell into the river. The man had made an emergency call, but the exact location was difficult to determine. “If he had fallen a few meters further, he would have ended up in the river and it would have been even more difficult to discover him,” said operations manager Günther Weiss from the Waidhofen-Wirts volunteer fire department. Despite the difficult circumstances, police, rescue and fire services searched for the driver up to two kilometers around the cell phone location. Ultimately, the man had already freed himself from the car before rescue workers found him, reported Small newspaper.

Meanwhile, another accident was reported in Reinhardshagen, Kassel district. On Saturday night, an automatic emergency call alerted the fire department because a car with deployed airbags was lying on its roof in a ditch. When they arrived, the emergency services initially found no injured person. It was decided to search the area with thermal imaging cameras and drones. Accompanied by several dogs, the rescue teams searched for the driver, who could not be found despite an intensive search. Later a tip came from Veckerhagen, but the person we were looking for was not found there either. The search was called off around 2:30 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing three young men who had apparently picked up the driver involved in the accident. The fire department's operation ended around 3:30 a.m. without the driver being found HNA reported.
