Roofing fire in Schriesheim: two injuries and 180,000 euros in damage!

On January 12, 2025, a devastating roofing fire broke out in a apartment building in Schriesheim, in the Rhein-Neckar district. The fire occurred around 6:45 a.m. on the Talstrasse and could be brought under control by the fire brigade until around 7:30 a.m.

The flames completely destroyed the roof structure of the building and led to an estimated property damage of around 180,000 euros. Fortunately, the spread of the fire was prevented from adjacent property, but the affected residential building is currently uninhabitable.

In the fire, two people were slightly injured. A 19-year-old resident had to be taken to the hospital with the suspicion of flue gas poisoning. A 42-year-old fireman suffered minor injuries from falling bricks and was cared for on site.

A total of 83 volunteers from the volunteer fire brigades from Schriesheim, Dossenheim, Heddesheim, Edingen-Neckarhausen, Ladenburg and Ilvesheim were deployed to fight the fire. The Schriesheim police station has investigated the cause of the fire.
