On March 30, 2025, there was a dangerous incident on the B100 Drautal Straße in the Spittal district of Carinthia on the Drau when a BMW caught fire while driving. The 31-year-old driver from Upper Austria noticed the smoke development in the passenger compartment and quickly stopped his vehicle on the road bank. Fortunately, both the driver and his passenger of the same age were able to flee to safety in good time before the car was in full fire.
The volunteer fire brigades Greifenburg, Radlach and Gerlamoos were quickly on site, but had to find out when they arrived that the vehicle was already burning in a light. The fire fighting began with first containment of the fire using high pressure, followed by extinguishing work with foam. The entire use only lasted about 30 minutes, but the B100 had to be blocked for this period.
