Pyrawang, Österreich - On May 31, 2025, the 33rd district water defense performance competition of the Schärding district took place in Pyrawang, Esterneberg municipality. Under ideal weather conditions, numerous zille crews competed against each other. The event was organized by the Pyrawang fire brigade and was a complete success. As the host, she granted the participants and spectators an excellent infrastructure and preparation, which contributed decisively to the success of the event.

District Feuerwehr Commander Johannes Veroner enveloped the event in optimism. The competitions required technical skill, physical fitness, precision and also endurance from the participants. Above all, the turning maneuvers and the investment against the current represented great challenges. of the state water defense performance competition

Another hotspot was the 61st state water defense competition on the Enns in Steyr, in which 927 Zillen crews from Upper Austria, Lower Austria and Styria took part. The demanding route was admired by several thousand spectators along the local kais. Despite strong currents and sweeping water areas, the participants showed remarkable use. However, some Zillen involuntarily had to leave the water, but all participants remained unharmed.

The performance of the Dietacher Zillen crew Christoph Wallergraber and Josef Kammerhuber, who not only achieved the national victory in master class A silver, should be particularly noted, but also achieved the victory in Bronze master A. The title went to the Dietach fire brigade in the team classification, while defending champion Martin Margelik and his partner Erich Mekina only finished fifth in this competition.

For the upcoming competitions, both Dietach and Steyr have qualified for the federal competition, which will take place on September 16, 2023 in Lebring, where over 500 Zillen drivers from all over Austria are expected.

Interested parties can look forward to exciting competitions and a diverse supporting program, including a performance show by various operational organizations and entertainment by the Edlseers. The final part of the event will take place on the evening of September 16 in the courtyard of the fire and civil protection school in Styria.
