Balcony fire in Wattens: Fire brigade saves residents from risk of flue gas!
In the early morning hours of January 6, 2025, two fires broke out in Wattens and Wattenberg, which were caused by windy conditions and human failure. In the first case, the fire brigade was alerted at 5:23 a.m. after a balcony fire was reported in a multi -party house. The residents had largely deleted the fire themselves before the emergency services arrived to remove the remaining embers. The fire was probably triggered by a cemetery candle in a glass vase that could tip over due to the strong wind and catch fire. In addition, there was a bucket with food oil on the balcony, which could have fueled the flames, as orf tirol reported.
burning drama in Wattenberg
At the same time, the fire of a holiday home in Wattenberg occurred around 3 a.m. The 73-year-old owner noticed the fire and was able to extinguish it independently before the fire brigade arrived. The flames had probably spread on the wooden balcony from a plastic bucket with ashes and possibly caused damage in the roof structure. The exact amount of damage is currently still unclear. In order to rule out potential flue gas poisoning, all those affected, both from Wattens and from Wattenberg, were brought to the district hospital in Hall in Tirol, such as Tirol informed.
These two incidents underline the dangers that can emerge from careless handling combustible objects, especially in adverse weather conditions. Fortunately, it remained with property damage and nobody was seriously injured. The emergency services acted quickly and efficiently to defuse the situations.
