Fire tragedy in California: Critics Choice Awards postponed!
The 30th award ceremony of the Critics Choice Awards, which was planned for the coming Sunday evening in the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, was postponed due to the devastating forest fires in the Los Angeles region. This decision was made by the Critics Choice Association (CCA), the largest critics association for film and television in the USA and Canada. The new date for the gala is January 26th.
Joey Berlin, the CEO of the CCA, expressed his sympathy for the people affected by the fires. The fires are among the worst fire disasters in the history of Los Angeles with two fatalities confirmed so far, the destruction of at least 1,000 buildings and tens of thousands for evacuation. At least four fire in the region is currently burning out of control, which makes the extinguishing work more difficult by extreme winds.
Details on the nominations and event changes
In addition to the postponed award ceremony, some premiere parties of the film studios also had to be canceled, and the screen actors guild (SAG) canceled a nomination ceremony. The list of nominees for the Critics Choice Awards has already been published in writing.
