Summer 2025: Your Europe: Adventure - tips for young travelers!

The youth: Info Lower Austria started the “Your Europe: Adventure” summer campaign on July 14, 2025. This initiative is aimed primarily at young people who want to travel to Europe. As part of the campaign, the website of the youth: info nö ( www.jugendinfo-noe.at/dea ), compact information, tips and offers for trips in Europe are provided. The aim is to offer young people orientation and security, especially for those who want to travel without parents or understand their rights abroad.

Until August 1, 2025, new content will be activated weekly that cover various topics. This includes aspects such as rights and rules when traveling, the advantages of the youth: Map of Lower Austria and international youth projects. Additional formats can also be found on the social media channels of youth: Info Lower Austria, which are specially prepared for young people.

weekly information and central topics

In July, information on youth projects, language trips and city trips are continuously provided. The topics include the rights when traveling, discounts with the youth: Map Lower Austria and opportunities for international participation. This information is continuously updated and supplemented. Special content is also available on Instagram and Facebook to address and inform the youth.

An important aspect of the campaign is to clarify the rights and regulate when traveling under the age of 18. For example, young people are only allowed to travel with the consent of the parents, and a written declaration of consent is particularly recommended abroad. This should be carried in English or the respective national language. The right to educate also requires that the attorney of the supervisory authority can be transferred to a legal age who travels with the young person.

youth protection regulations and accommodation rules

The youth protection regulations vary depending on the federal state in Austria, whereby there are different exit times for different age groups. For example, under 14-year-olds may be on the road if they are accompanied. 14- to 16-year-olds have a permit until 1 a.m., while young people aged 16 and over have unlimited exit times. In Upper Austria, different regulations apply to the younger age groups.

The overnight regulations in hotels, youth hostels and campsites are also dependent on the respective federal states. A comprehensive overview of these rules is also available on the youth: Info Lower Austria.

The advantages of the youth: Map of Lower Austria

Another central element of the campaign is the presentation of the youth: Map NÖ, which is known as European Youth Card (EYC). This card offers discounts in over 36 countries and is available free of charge in Lower Austria for 14 to 24 year olds. It enables discounts in youth hostels, restaurants, supermarkets as well as when buying train tickets and tickets for cultural facilities and thus opens up new travel options in Europe.

In addition, the "Protection of Protection in Europe" page offers valuable information on the regulations on the protection of minors in various European countries. This platform has been actively and regularly updated since May 2012 to clarify parents and educators about the legal framework abroad. The aim is to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts, especially when young people travel abroad. Users can access and compare legal regulations for the protection of children and adolescents in different countries ( Protection-of-minors.eu ).

The current information and offers are available on the website of the youth: Info Lower Austria and offer young people the necessary support to make sure and inform their trips through Europe.
