A tragedy in the ventilation: 38 people die when the plane crash in Kazakhstan!
A terrible incident shaked the nation! A passenger aircraft from the Azerbaijani airline crashed off the coast of the Caspian Sea and cost at least 38 people. Azerbaijan mourns the loss of the victims, while the authorities in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia examine the circumstances of the accident.
On Wednesday morning, this devastating emergency occurred when the Embraer 190, flight number J2-8243, was on the way from Baku to Grosny, the capital of the Russian sub-Republic of Chechnya. The machine crashed only about 3 kilometers from the city of Aktau.
who was on board?
A total of 62 passengers and 5 crew members were on board. The tragedy affects people from four different countries:
- 42 Azerbaijani citizens
- 16 Russian citizens
- 6 Kazakh citizens
- 3 Kyrgyz citizens
of the 67 people on board survived 32, including two children who are now treated in the hospital. Many survivors were saved bleeding from the rubble, while others had to drag themselves out of the wreck.
The Kazakh Vice Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev confirmed the terrible number of fatalities. According to reports, both pilots also died in the crash.
What led to this horror crash?
The first information indicates that an "emergency" on board, possibly caused by a bird strike, caused the crash. The machine had to redirect in Grosny due to dense fog and tried to land in activity. The flight prosecution services documented how the aircraft changed its route and finally crashed Aktau near the airport.
Azerbaijans President Ilham Aliyev said that the machine changed its course due to the bad weather conditions. The next Russian airport in Machhathatzkala was closed for drone activities, which further tightened the situation. Experts suspect that strong GPS jamming in the region may have made navigation more difficult.
However,Aliyev warned of speculation and emphasized that the exact causes of the crash were still unclear. "There are different theories, but it is premature to discuss it," he said.
The emergency teams are already on site and fight against the flames that have arisen from the crash. 150 rescue workers and medical teams, including specialists from Astana, are in use to help the injured.
Azerbaijan Airlines has exposed all flights between Baku and Grosny as well as Baku and Mothathatzkala to clarify the incident. In addition, a hotline was set up for the relatives of the passengers.
President Aliyev also declared December 26th for the day of mourning. While he was on the way to a summit in Russia, he received the news of the crash and immediately gave instructions to return to Baku.
The investigation is already in full swing. A group of investigators, led by the deputy general prosecutor Azerbaijan, traveled to Kazakhstan to work at the scene of the accident. The black box of the aircraft was also found and is now being examined.
The authorities focus on possible technical problems and the closure of the airspace near the scene of the accident. The Brazilian manufacturer Embraer offered its support in the investigation.
