Government crisis: National Council debates pressing financial reforms!

Austria faces decisive political changes: Almost five months after the last election, the country has still not formed a new government. Nevertheless, on February 26, the National Council comes together for its second meeting this year. This session, which begins at 9:00 a.m., is initiated by a current hour in which the topic "Three Years War in Ukraine: Cooperation is more important than ever" is applied by the NEOS. In addition, a law is expected to implement the EU directive to improve the cooperation between law enforcement authorities, as reports [ots.at].

During the session there is also a minute of commemoration for the attack in Villach on the agenda. Another important topic will be the possible delivery of the FPÖ MP Harald Stefan, against which is investigated due to the accusation of incitement in connection with discriminatory statements about Afghan refugees. The immunity committee is expected to meet on Wednesday morning to make the necessary decisions.

In the current European lesson, which follows the first part, the ÖVP will discuss the topic "Security for Austria also requires a view of Europe". Almost all factions advocate increased European cooperation in security issues, apart from the FPÖ, which opposes current EU policy. European Minister Karoline Edtstadler said that the security situation has been fundamentally changed in recent years by various global crises. However, citizens should be encouraged to believe in existing democratic life models and to actively participate in the security discussion in Europe, as [parlament.gv.at] illustrate.
