In a wider European context, the latest statistics show that diesel is more expensive than gasoline in about a quarter of European countries. For example, the average price for B7 diesel is 1.44 euros, slightly higher than the European average for petrol, with prices up to 30 % above the European average in countries such as the Netherlands. This pricing is due to various factors, including location and demand.
