Explode prices: Diesel is more expensive than great! This is how you save now!
The fuel prices in Europe are rising rapidly. In November 2024, Diesel cost an average of 1.536 euros per liter, according to the ÖAMTC, and thus overtakes super gasoline, which was 1.497 euros per liter. This is an increase of 2.3 cents for diesel, while super gasoline was 0.4 cents cheaper. It is noteworthy that this price increase for diesel was only noticeable in the last two weeks of the month, where the price rose by 1.55 euros per liter, while it remained super stable at around 1.50 euros. Despite stable crude oil prices, these price shifts are done in the global markets, which questions the reasons for the increase, as the ÖAMTC also determines.
price trends in Europe
In a wider European context, the latest statistics show that diesel is more expensive than gasoline in about a quarter of European countries. For example, the average price for B7 diesel is 1.44 euros, slightly higher than the European average for petrol, with prices up to 30 % above the European average in countries such as the Netherlands. This pricing is due to various factors, including location and demand.
reasonably calming for consumers is the fact that diesel is around six percent cheaper than in December of the previous year, while the decline in super gasoline is only 2.5 percent. According to the ÖAMTC, it is recommended to compare the prices before the journey to save up to 33 euros at a 50-liter tank filling at cheaper petrol stations. It is therefore advisable to use comparison portals or special tank apps regularly to find the best offers and benefit from the price fluctuations, as well as autoTraveler.ru reports.
