North Korea is supposed to deduct troops from Russia - the USA and South Korea are demanding!
Russia's military interactions with North Korea are the focus of a heated UN Security Council Freeze. The Russian UN ambassador Vasily Nunkzya vehemently rejected the allegations that North Korean troops were used on the front line in the Ukraine War. "These reports are brazen lies," he said, emphasizing that military cooperation with North Korea was in line with international law. In the meantime, the defense ministers of the United States and South Korea were demanding that North Korea take its troops from Russia, where up to 10,000 soldiers are said to be stationed.
US defense minister Lloyd Austin urged the immediate return of the North Korean armed forces and warned that Russia could possibly use these troops in the fight against Ukraine. "We will continue to work with our allies to prevent Russia from using these troops in combat," added Austin. The Pentagon authorities reported that a "small number" North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region have already been stationed, where Ukrainian troops have been fighting offensive since August.
global alarm bells ring
The close military alliance between Russia and North Korea, which has grown in the course of the Ukraine conflict, ensures concern worldwide. While North Korea and Russia are under sanctions, it is feared that this cooperation could further heat the tensions in the region. The Ukrainian UN ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya warned that the cooperation between the two countries is a threat to Europe and beyond. "The interoperability of the Russian and North Korean armies is another step towards the escalation of the war against Ukraine," said Kyslytsya.
The question remains what North Korea could receive in exchange for the troops. Experts suspect that Pyongyang is interested in military technology, including monitoring satellites and submarines. A Ukrainian official reported that North Korean soldiers are only 50 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, and it is believed that up to 12,000 North Korean soldiers are active in Russia. Meanwhile, the fight in Ukraine continues, with numerous drone attacks and heavy fights on the front.
