Large nationwide raid: 20 grandchildren arrested!

Investigations against fraudulent call centers in Europe recently had a spectacular success: In a cross-border deployment from November 25th to December 6th, a total of 20 suspects were arrested, which were involved in numerous grandchildren. In these machinations, the perpetrators, mostly older people, tried to deceive with fake calls by specifications that a relative was involved in a serious car accident and urgently needed money to pay a deposit. According to the investigation of Volksblatt and Tagesspiegel there were in several countries, including Germany, Poland, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

With a massive use of up to 1,000 police officers per day, 391 attempts to fraud were prevented, with a total amount of more than 4.85 million euros from being prevented. In the German state of Lower Saxony in particular, a loss of around 1.5 million euros could be averted through quick intervention. Investigators have smashed three call centers in Poland, with two crowded in a hotel room and an apartment in Warsaw. Six of the arrested suspects are said to have been highly professional and systematic, as investigators reported.

The phenomenon of grandchildren

The extraordinary measures are not least the response to the growing threat from the scales that have increasingly reinforced through the advent of cross -border groups. The assignment already described itself as the third of this kind in the fight against the phenomenon. The fact that the fraudsters call more from abroad and thus target older people targeted this problem makes this problem all the more disturbing. Criminals use modern means of communication to carry out their unscrupulous machinations, which is pursued by the investigators.
