Trump victory ensures mixed reactions in Great Britain!
Buckinghamshire, Vereinigtes Königreich - Donald Trump is back in the spotlight, and the reactions of British politicians are anything but uniform! After his victory in the US presidential elections and winning the decisive state of Wisconsin, some leading heads of the Labor Party, as Prime Minister Sir Keir Strander, were not exactly enthusiastic. Strander, who compared the conservative government with Trump, exposed the "cultural shame" of the modern Tory party and accused them of having away from the values of Winston Churchill.
"Are there any government members who feel responsible for more than their own interest?" Asked Starmer provocative. He described the Tories as a "Trump supporter" and criticized their tactics as "separating and splitting". Despite all these violent allegations, he emphasized that the special relationship between Great Britain and the USA remains, no matter who is in the White House.
violent allegations and unexpected congratulations
However, the Labor politicians do not agree. Foreign Minister David Lammy addressed Trump in 2017 as "racists and sympathizers of the KKK/Neo-Nazis" and described him as a threat to the international order. But this year Lammy surprised Trump with his congratulations: "We look forward to working together!" What a dramatic change!
Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner also did not leave her outrage about Trump uncommented and described the violence that he unleashed as "scary". Her joy about Biden's taking office was obvious: "Finally Trump is gone!" Health Minister Wes Streeting also had titled Trump as a "hideous, sad little man" in 2017 and wondered how one could be proud to have him as president. Energy Minister Ed Miliband even went so far to brand Trump as a "sexist racist".
