International earthquake exercise: rescue workers rehearse in Nordbaden!
Today, the spectacular international earthquake exercise “Magnitude” begins in Nordbaden, which relies entirely on action and operational ability! Almost 1,000 rescue workers from different countries flow into the area to train an earthquake scenario that could take place in the Upper Rhine. The exciting exercise takes place on a former barracks area in Mosbach (Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis), where the emergency services are confronted with all kinds of challenges, including the rescue of injuries in a specially installed "rubble". It is the emergency - every minute is counted here!
The pressure increases, because by Saturday there are still numerous scenarios on the program that require a lot of skill and teamwork. The helpers are confronted with dangerous chemicals, damaged infrastructure and the rescue of spotted people! And the best thing about it? In addition to heavy equipment, four -legged friends and helicopters will also be used to master the challenges. On Friday, the high-ranking politicians Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) and the EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, will also be on site to look at the exciting exercises!
