France's mobile phone providers combine forces against online fraud!

In a groundbreaking initiative to combat fraud in digital space, the leading French mobile operators bouygues telecom, free, orange and SFR have bundled their strength. As part of the global GSMA Open Gateway Initiative, they announced the introduction of two new network APIs, which were specially developed to help you safely check the identity of your customers online. In view of the constant increase in online transactions and the alarming increase of digital identity theft in France, these measures have increased by 40 % in the past four years. As early as 2023, the country recorded an increase in online transactions by 37 %, which requires significantly increased protection against fraud, such as APA-OTS

The two newly introduced APIs, Kyc Match and SIM Swap are specially designed to support companies in efficiently validating their customers and at the same time minimizing the risks of fraud. Kyc Match enables online providers to easily check the identity of new customers in accordance with the legally defined money laundering requirements. This KYC examination is not only legally prescribed, but also crucial for the protection of companies against financial and legal risks, as also highlighted by a-trust . Precise data analyzes and digital verification ensure that the information provided is about authentic identities.

In addition, over twenty companies in France have already started to integrate these new Telco-APIs in order to prevent fraud and ensure that their customers' identity is verified in the entire onboarding process. The introduction of this APIS is an important step to strengthen the digital security infrastructure in France and ensure that the mobile phone industry remains at the top of technology and security.
