In a spectacular stop on Wednesday morning (October 30), federal police officers in Waidhaus arrested a 22-year-old man who spent himself as a Belgian. During border controls of the long -distance travel, which was traveling to France, the deception turned out to be a brazen attempted fraud! The Syrian presented the officials a stolen Belgian identity card that did not fit his appearance and immediately suspected.

The situation escalated when he, caught in flagranti, picked up his mobile phone and proudly presented a photo of his real Syrian passport. The fraudster admitted that he had bought the document on the black market to illegally get to Germany. The review of the Belgian ID revealed that he was registered as stolen in the search register. The federal police are now investigating for attempted illegal entry and abuse of identification.

Investigations initiated

The young man had already applied for an asylum application in Germany and is now being forwarded to the responsible Federal Office for Migration and Refugees in Regensburg. This incident throws a bland light on the methods of refugees who try fake identities to gain a foothold in Europe. The federal police show that it does not shy away from complicated deception - and this can also have consequences for other travelers!
