Enns is a pioneer in the climate-neutral future!

At the last meeting of the Enns local council, a groundbreaking decision was made: the “Climate Neutral Enns 2040” strategy was unanimously approved. The municipality of Enns is thus taking a significant step towards a sustainable future. Mayor Christian Deleja-Hotko emphasized the responsibility that the city would like to take on to make Enns “climate-fit for future generations”. This includes not only switching to renewable energy, but also improving urban infrastructure such as pedestrian and cycle paths as well as energy-efficient renovations.

The climate strategy process began in 2022 with a future workshop led by the Upper Austrian Climate Alliance, which actively involved citizens. The “Green Team” emerged from these ideas and is continuously working on implementing the measures. Most recently, concrete steps were defined at a workshop in November 2024, which have now been incorporated into the overall concept. With the climate and energy strategy, Upper Austria also has. The state government has set a high standard to achieve the goal of climate neutrality by 2040 land-oberoesterreich.gv.at reported.

A clear goal by 2040

The Oö. The climate and energy strategy includes a total of 20 clusters that define key priorities in order to effectively achieve climate goals. This strategy is closely coordinated with the plans of the EU and the federal government to ensure a coordinated progress survey. The results and status of the measures are published in the annual reports in order to guarantee transparency and traceability. A central concern is to reduce fossil fuels and offset the remaining emissions through natural carbon sinks. This represents a decisive step towards a climate-resilient future for Upper Austria, as significant adaptation measures are also of great importance as part of the strategy, such as meinkreis.at highlights.
