Carinthian cross-country skiing families days: 1,000 euros for the offspring!

in Carinthia took place from 7 to 9 to 9, 2025, the event "Cross -country skiing families active days" took place, which offered a great platform to support the Nordic youngsters of SV Villach. The Stars4future initiative received a donation of 1,000 euros, thanks to the generous support from Uniqa, Carinthia Sport and Kelag Energie. Christian Snurer from Uniqa and Michael Kummerer from MJK Sportmarketing symbolically presented the check to Gerhard Prasser, the chairman of SV Villach, and to the young athletes of the club. This special action aims to strengthen the connection between talented Carinthian athletes and the upcoming talents and thus promote the future of sport in the region.

Villacher SV: A traditional club

The Villacher SV, founded in 1920, had an eventful story behind it and was once active in the second highest Austrian football league. The association is known for its successful ice hockey section, which operates under the name EC VSV. The football club has experienced many ups and downs and merged with other clubs in the past, including Austria Klagenfurt at the time from 1997 to 2006. Despite the challenges, the association rose again in 2006 under the name SV Villach after recovering independence. Today SV Villach plays in the Unterliga West and took second place in the 2021/22 season.

The roots of the association were in the period after the First World War, Alsita -Italian soldiers played the first games in provisional places in Villach. This inspired the local population to found their own football club. The club colors blue and white reflect the long tradition and pride of the association. Even if the Villacher SV no longer plays in the highest leagues, the club remains an important part of sporting culture in Carinthia, as reported.
