Future of e-mobility: open new fast charging stations in Villach and Oberwart!

Electra, a leading provider of quick -release solutions, announced on May 15, 2025 the opening of two new charging parks in Austria. The locations are located in Villach and Oberwart, with both projects being realized in strategic cooperation with local restaurant operators. In Villach, the new loading park at Prossowitscher Straße 8, in cooperation with the Pizza Plus restaurant, is set up.

The location in Villach is equipped with two 300 kW speed charging stations, which offer a total of four charging points. In addition, a battery memory with a capacity of 430 kWh is installed to stabilize the charging capacity. In Oberwart, on a property of the Goldino restaurant, a charging park with three 300 kW stations and six charging points is built. A battery memory with 436 kWh is also planned here, which is to be put into operation from July 2025.

Expansion of the charging network

Electra also plans to open further charging parks in the coming months. A location in Fürstenfeld is scheduled for June 2025, followed by another in Hartberg who is to be opened in July 2025. In addition, a quick charging hub at the Clocktower restaurant in Graz will be opened shortly, which further strengthens the presence of the company in Austria.

At the international level, Electra is currently entering the German market. The company has announced that by 2030 to build a total of 500 quick charging stations with over 3,000 charging points in Germany. The entry into Germany is promoted by strategic partnerships with acquired customers from the areas of hotel, mass retail, real estate and fleet operators to promote electromobility. This expansion is supported by a record financing of 304 million euros, led by the Dutch pension fund service provider PGGM. In total, Electra has raised around 600 million euros for the development of a European charging network in the past three years.

market development and forecasts

Electromobility in Europe is currently experiencing remarkable growth. Forecasts show that by 2035 no new vehicles with an internal combustion engine will be approved in the EU and battery -electric vehicles are increasingly replacing the combustion engines. In 2023, the market share of battery-electric vehicles reached around 14.6 percent, while petrol and diesel cars made less than half of the new registrations for the first time. This illustrates the need for a robust and expanded charging network in order to meet the increasing demand for electric vehicles.

Norway currently leads with over 82 percent e-car content and is an example of successful integration of electromobility. However, the expansion of the charging infrastructure continues to have big differences between European countries. While the Netherlands, Germany and France together offer around 60 percent of the loading points in the EU, expansion in many Eastern European countries is slower.

In view of the forecast dominance of electric vehicles in the coming years, Electra pursues a clear strategy to set up numerous quick charging stations across Europe. The company plans to set up a total of 2,200 charging points with 15,000 charging points by 2030. The focus is on the user -friendliness of the charging stations to support the transition to more environmentally friendly vehicles.
