Eichsfeld.In a dramatic operation, the employees of the main customs office in Braunschweig near Göttingen struck twice! At the Arenshausen junction of Autobahn 38, on the night of October 17th to 18th, customs officers searched a van and revealed shocking findings. The driver initially stated that he was only transporting four cartons of cigarettes - which corresponds to around 200 cigarettes. But the truth was completely different: When checked, it turned out that the trunk was stuffed with an incredible 68 sticks, which contained a total of 13,480 cigarettes!

The action was reminiscent of a game of cat and mouse! The driver, who came from Romania, had taken considerable advantage by massively evading tobacco tax of over 2,500 euros. All cigarettes were immediately confiscated and the driver is now facing criminal proceedings that are being processed at the main customs office in Erfurt. As a temporary measure, a security deposit of 500 euros was also taken - you never know how the situation will develop!

Second hot discovery: crystal meth!

But that wasn't all! During another strict inspection, the customs officers were even able to seize over five kilograms of crystal meth! The drugs were cleverly hidden in five plastic trays in the sleeping area of ​​the van. The driver was immediately arrested and criminal proceedings were initiated against him for violations of the Narcotics Act. Further processing is now in the hands of the Frankfurt am Main customs investigation office. A clear victory in the fight against drug trafficking - but the question remains: what to expect next time?
