Count with! The hour of the winter birds starts in the Nuremberg region

Nürnberger Land, Deutschland - A spectacular event is imminent! From January 10th to 12th 2025 the hour of the winter birds will be celebrated for the 20th time! The Bavarian Nature Conservation Association LBV and its nationwide partner NABU call all nature lovers to count and report the feathered friends of feed houses, in gardens, in balconies or in parks. A call that is not only fun, but also makes an important contribution to nature conservation!

The focus is on the familiar species of birds that populate our settlement rooms: Meisen, finches, robin and sparrows. This campaign is the largest civic research campaign in Germany, in which thousands of people come together to collect valuable data about the domestic bird stocks. Last year, over 26,000 citizens in Bavaria took part and counted more than 600,000 birds! An impressive number that shows how important and popular this action is.

But that's not all! The school lesson of the winter birds will take place from January 13th to 17th. This extended counting period enables schools to actively participate in the campaign as part of the lesson. A great way to inspire students for nature and to bring them closer to the importance of nature conservation!
