The travel portal "Booking.com" took a close look at the German winter trip trends and the results are amazing!

The top travel destinations of Germans in winter are Germany, Austria, Spain, Poland and the Czech Republic. But Germans are also ready for long -distance travel: flights to Spain, Great Britain, Turkey, Thailand and Italy are particularly in demand. Particularly striking: flights to Italy were booked twice as often this winter as in the previous year! And Turkey? There was an increase of 43 percent of the flight bookings here. A clear trend towards warmer realms!

Popular travel destinations abroad

German vacationers are also drawn to the big cities in Europe! Prague, Paris, Vienna and London are the favorites. But that's not all: 42 percent more Germans have decided to go on vacation in Dubai this year. The cold winter months only seem to reinforce the longing for sun and warmth!

If you prefer to stay in your own country, you have the choice between pulsating big cities and the idyllic Alps. The most popular travel destinations in Germany are Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Dresden and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The latter experiences a real boom: Searching for accommodations rose by 19 percent compared to the previous year! A true winter miracle for all ski and nature lovers!

International tourists, on the other hand, is also drawn to German metropolises. Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Düsseldorf are the hotspots. Cologne can look forward to twice as many international guests this year as in the previous year. A clear proof that Germany is becoming increasingly popular as a winter travel destination!

And where do the Germans prefer to stay? The answer is clear: Hotels are still very popular! Alternative accommodations such as holiday apartments, pensions, aparthotels and holiday homes are also increasingly gaining popularity. The winter vacation is becoming more diverse and more individual!
