Christmas Museum in Radebeul: Opening

The lying museum in the Gasthof Serkowitz in Radebeul surprisingly reopened after it was closed for three months. Operator of the museum is now the object artist Reinhard Zabka, who has transformed it into a Christmas museum. The museum is now open every day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The museum's closure took place after the termination of the rental agreement by the city of Radebeul on August 31, 2023. The underlying collection of bizarre objects has been no longer accessible since then. Dorota Zabka, who leads the museum together with Reinhard Zabka, expresses concerns about the legality of this closure, which has been in force since September 1, 2024.

The city of Radebeul had terminated the lying museum on August 31, 2024, which led to great uncertainty about the future of the museum. On December 3, 2024, Dorota Zabka and her team appealed to the city council and mayor to rethink the decision. In addition, the operators strive to fully take over the inn.

The listed building is in need of renovation, which makes it difficult to find financially strong prospective interested parties. On St. Nicholas Day, December 6th, the inn was finally reopened as a Christmas museum. On December 27th at 5 p.m., the exhibition "Zack Zack - Interior Underground" will also be opened, which is planned until June 26, 2025.

This exhibition addresses the subversive art scene and the cultural underground for the peaceful revolution in 1989 and recognizes the courage of dissidents in German-German history. A central aspect of the background is also a legal dispute over an agreement to use the inn as a warehouse for museum pieces. This agreement never became final because the museum director refused to sign.

The lies museum is open daily from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. from December 23, 2024 to January 3, 2025. There is also a petition entitled "Save the Lies Museum in Radebeul", which is committed to the long -term securing of the museum.
