The Federal Statistical Office points out that, for example, prices for cut flowers in February are three percent higher than in the rest of the year - and that is not even inflationary.

The survey results from Germany and Austria show that people are increasingly willing to buy gifts, but may spend less due to increased living costs. "If you are planning for Valentine's Day, you should also keep an eye on price adjustments," warns SWR television . At the same time, environmentally friendly and sustainable alternatives for gifts are trend - an initiative supported by the environmental protection organization BUND. This advises to pay attention to regionally produced flowers and products in order to avoid long transport routes and their effects on the climate.
