Lions Charity Run: Run for peace - be in Weimar!
in Weimar run on Tuesday, October 8th, eight participants of the Lions Charity Runs a piece from Warsaw to Brussels. The run aims to collect donations for the victims of war in Ukraine, an important initiative in times of humanitarian crisis.
The group consists of runners from Poland, Ukraine and Northern Germany. Her journey begins at the Feiningerturm in Mellingen, where she will travel a distance of about ten kilometers to the historic city of Weimar. The participants are accompanied by Rüdiger Mayer and Claus Schneider, both members of the Lions Club Weimar Classic. Anika Schwartze-Schams, the head of the city's sports and school office, will also run part of the route with them.
Open to run for interested parties
All interested runners are welcome to join the group, regardless of whether they only want to run shorter stages. The running group is expected at 3:30 p.m. at the Gasthaus Kipperquelle in Ehringsdorf, followed by Stops to Goethe's garden house at 3:45 p.m. and at the Herzogin-Anna-Aanna-Amalia library at 3:53 p.m. Finally, Mayor Ralf Kirsten will receive the runners in the town hall at 4 p.m. and express his recognition.
The Lions Charity Run is not only a sporting event, but also a memory event. This year, the course of the events of the Potsdam conference from 1945 and the accession of ten countries to the European Union commemorates 20 years ago. In addition, the founding of the Weimar triangle is taken into account 33 years ago, which represents significant diplomatic cooperation between Germany, France and Poland.
The Lions Club has been committed over the years to collect more than $ 400,000 for different humanitarian purposes with charity runs. As part of this event, the Lions Club Weimar Classic also makes its contribution with a cash donation worth several hundred euros. The campaign is also supported by the Erfurt company BOS, which provides medical material worth around 400 euros to secure the campaign and help to offer the runners the necessary security.
The entire running group is expected on October 12th in Brussels, where they will crown their efforts in the hope of further donations for the Ukrainian victims of war. In view of the current global challenges, this charity run is not only a sign of solidarity, but also an example of how sport and political events can be brought together in order to spread a message of hope and promotion of the common good.
