Frankfurt Book Fair: Weimarer Verlag honored with a top award!

Frankfurt/Weimar. In the world of literature, an emerging star is emerging: Friedrich Mauke Verlag, which has only been active for three years, has been able to look forward to a significant award. At this year's Frankfurt Book Fair, they were honored with 83 other independent publishers with the renowned German publisher.

Especially at a time when the book industry is faced with numerous challenges, this award particularly surprises. The publisher André Störr, who received the award personally, was enthusiastic: "This is a huge step for us." These words reflect the motivation that is created by this recognition in times of economic uncertainties.

a success story in a short time

The Friedrich Mauke Verlag was founded in Jena in 2019, but did not take up his journalistic activity until 2021. The publisher's offer quickly developed, so that 16 books have already been published. In the spring of 2024, the publisher moved its seat to Weimar. Together with his wife Christine Störr, André Störr leads the publisher and is enthusiastic about the possibilities that result from the new choice of location.

With the motto "tell Europe", the publisher focuses on literature from Eastern Europe. A particularly interesting series, the Edition Europastraße, is devoted to contemporary literature from writers from the countries along the Europastraße E40, which leads from Calais to Kazakhstan. These cultural connections by the literature are considered significant to promote understanding of the diversity of Europe.

Since August 2023, Puck Kinderbuchverlag has been expanding the offer of Friedrich Mauke Verlag, and 12 to 16 new publications per year are planning for the future. André Störr emphasizes how important the award for the young company is: "It motivates us to continue to produce high -quality literature and tell our stories."

The Frankfurt Book Fair plays a central role in the awareness and networking of publishers. For Friedrich Mauke Verlag, this award is not only a financial profit of 18,000 euros, but above all a great opportunity to establish yourself in the literary market and to win new readers. So far, the publisher has been the only Thuringian house that has received this award, which contributes to the regional importance.

This development and the quick rise of Friedrich Mauke Verlag can be seen as an encouraging example of the book industry in general. In an environment that is constantly changing, independent publishers prove that with creativity and commitment, valuable contributions to the literary landscape can be made. A look at the upcoming publications of the publisher remains exciting and is of great interest for lovers of literature.
