Lights against forgetting: Memorial campaign in Bad Salzungen on November 9th

Bad Salzungen, Deutschland - On November 9, 2024, Bad Salzungen becomes the scene of a moving memorial campaign! On the occasion of the 86th anniversary of the Reichspogromnacht, a sign is set under the urgent motto "Lights against forgetting" to keep the memory of the victims of National Socialism awake. This event is not only a review of the dark past, but also a powerful commitment to human rights, tolerance and cosmopolitanism!

The emotional start takes place at 5 p.m. in the city church of Bad Salzungen. Pastor Karl Weber leads an ecumenical peace prayer that offers the participants space for reflection and silent memory of the innocent victims. At 5:30 p.m. there is an impressive dunning along the stumbling blocks, which stand as a warning symbol for the persecuted and murdered during the Holocaust. Here the citizens have the opportunity to linger in silent grief and to actively live the importance of memory.

A call to participate

The organizers-the "Round Table for Democracy", the partnership for democracy "Denk Bunt in Wartburgkreis", the Ev.-Luth. Church district of Bad Salzungen-Rermbach and local schools-cordially invite all citizens and interested parties to take part in this significant memorial event. Together, a strong sign is made against forgetting in order to promote the values of an open and democratic society and to counteract discrimination and extremism. Be there and show that we don't forget the teachings from history!
