Schleizer Reading Days & Halloween Fair: A festival for young and old!
There are exciting events in the Saale-Orla region that are both literary and festive. The Schleizer Reading Days traditionally take place in the Wisentahalle, which are organized in collaboration with the Kreissparkasse Saale-Orla and the city of Schleiz. The start of the reading days is scheduled for November 20th, with erotic author Stefan Schael enchanting visitors with his program “Oh, lift your fragrant skirt…” at 7:30 p.m. Guests can look forward to admission two hours in advance. This year there will also be a children's program, which can be expected on Thursday. Here the author Andreas Hüging will present a musical reading entitled “Street Tiger – Hunting for Fool’s Gold”.
The event will culminate on November 22nd, when actress Nina Hoger addresses the longing for distance and freedom with poetic texts. She is accompanied by Ulla van Daelen, who plays the harp. Tickets are now available at various ticket offices and Sparkasse branches.
Special highlights: Halloween fair and crime reading
In addition to the reading days, a social Halloween event in Döbritz will also delight residents. The Halloween fair is celebrated on October 26th. The day begins at 5 p.m. with a service to honor the church festival and Thanksgiving. Afterwards, at 6 p.m., the children are allowed to parade through the village with lanterns, and the person who carries the most beautiful lantern will receive a surprise for their creativity. Afterwards, music, kettle goulash and refreshing drinks will ensure the physical well-being of the visitors on the premises of the fire brigade association.
Another cultural highlight is the crime reading “The Elisabeth Riddle”, which will take place on October 23rd at 7 p.m. in the Triptis town hall. The author Rolf Sakulowski tells the exciting story of the historian Jonas Wiesenburg, who, as an advisor to the State Criminal Police Office, is looking for a mysterious relic, the heart of Saint Elisabeth. This search turns out to be a dangerous race against a ruthless murderer who will stop at no cost to get the relic. The story takes readers and participants through various cities, including Erfurt, Jena and Eisenach.
