Autumn hiking around Bucha: District Administrator shows the most beautiful corners of the Saale-woodland!
In the Saale-Holzland-Kreis there was a remarkable autumn hike that attracted many hiking friends. Johann Waschnewski, the new district administrator of the region and member of the CDU, invited the FDP to an entertaining day around Bucha together with the Jena Mayor Thomas Nitzsche. The event came about on Saturday, October 19th, to the delight of numerous participants.
In wonderful weather, the two politicians welcomed a total of 155 hiking enthusiasts at the parish hall in Bucha. The tour led through picturesque landscapes and many historically interesting areas. Announcements for the next spring hike on April 26, 2025 were also made and this is to take place on a section of the Saale-horizontal.
The route of the hike
The hike began with a brief introduction to the municipality of Bucha by Mayor Hans-Joachim Löper. The small community has around 1,200 inhabitants and is divided into five districts. Then it went to the historical mill Bucha, where Klaus Hagmeyer and Klaus Schneider from the Heimat- und History Association gave exciting insights into the local history.
The group also stopped at a striking border stone, the so-called three-men stone, on which the borders of the municipalities of Bucha, Schorba and Leutra meet. This element of the hike clarified not only the geographical, but also the historical connections between the areas.
When they arrive in Oßmaritz, the hikers were welcomed by happy brass music. On this day there was also a festival in Oßmaritz, the fun fair. The fire brigade comrades of the village had agreed to grill sausages for the arriving hikers, so that the participants were received on time at 12 noon with delicious roster and Brätel.
The hiking route then continued through the Götteritzgrund to Nennsdorf. There was a little refreshment break here before the group climbed the tumor, 391 meters, the highest elevation of the district. Jürgen Ellenberg, an expert from Jena, explained the geological peculiarities of the region to the participants, while looking over the meadows and forests.
a sweet end
Back in Bucha, the back women at the parish hall were already waiting for the hiking friends with freshly baked sheet cake and coffee. This culinary graduation ceremony enabled the participants to end the day together and to exchange their experiences.
A big thank you goes to all helpers and clubs who contributed to the organization of the hike. In addition to the personal encounter, each participant also received an anniversary brochure entitled "30 years of Saale-Holzland-Kreis-30 hikes through the region". This brochure can be requested in the district office in Eisenberg.
The hike not only gave fun, but also strengthened the sense of community and the connection between the people in the region. Such events are important to promote and celebrate the beauty and wealth of the Saale-Holzland region.
