Resource forum 2024: Sustainability in focus - sewage sludge in conversation!

Hochschule Nordhausen, Deutschland - A spectacular event took place on October 24 and 25, 2024 at the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences: the 2nd resource forum! This important platform for knowledge exchange and networking has long been established beyond the regional borders. This all about the pressing challenges and developments in sustainable resource use. The event attracted top -class experts and representatives of the industry who presented their latest findings and projects.

Professor Folker Flüggen opened the forum with gripping impulse lectures, which dealt with innovative topics such as recycling sediments and analyzing plant cubes. A particularly controversial topic was the sewage sludge, the growing quantities and the return of valuable resources to the cycle. The participants received insights into the sources, processing options and the legal framework that is relevant for the treatment of sewage sludge. At the same time, the topics of sustainable construction and circular economy were also highly illuminated.

The second day of the forum continued the exciting discussion. Experts such as Prof. R. Pomberger from the Montan University Leoben and Prof. D. Goldman from the TU Clausthal shared their valuable insights into the potential of the circular economy and the raw material potential in mining residues. In the subsequent sessions, topics such as sustainability in geotechnical engineering and the use of AI in recycling were dealt with. The variety of developments in the area of sustainable resource use became clear, as was the challenges to implement them effectively.

The resource industry was represented by well -known companies such as Veolia Klärschlammverwertung GmbH, Aurubis AG and Circular Silicon Europe GmbH, which reported on their current projects and challenges. The next edition of the resource forum is already planned for October 2025, with a special focus on the topic of plastic recycling. An exciting reunion is imminent!
