Parking lot worries in Holzhausen: debate for 53 new parking spaces sparked!
Holzhausen. The parking space question is peaking up: A new construction project of the municipality of Amt Wachsenburg could defuse the tense Situation around the parking spaces in Holzhausen. At various events, including the “open courtyards” and exhibitions in the Otto Knöpfer-Haus, the town crossing road was often overloaded. These problems have caused numerous citizens to think about solutions.
In the past, there was hot discussion about where a larger parking area could be created. Again and again the parking lot at the Wachsenburg was considered unfavorable, since it is more away for many visitors. Now the municipality has decided to initiate a project for the construction of a new parking space. 53 parking spaces between kindergarten and the Kämpf company are planned at the end of the town towards Arnstadt. The cost of this building is estimated to be 500,000 euros, and various design variants have already been drawn up by a planning office.
local citizen participation is required
In order to involve the population in the decision -making process, the newly elected district council has organized an information evening. The lively participation of the citizens in the fire department illustrated the great interest in the topic. District Mayor Thomas Beige (independent) explained the advantages and disadvantages of the three parking lot designs submitted, which led to a lively discussion among those present. The citizens were particularly expressed on the number of parking spaces, the required costs and the safety of the children near the new parking lot.
Another point of the discussion was the use of the new parking lot by the primary school. Many participants suggested that a financial participation of the district would make sense in the project. It was also indicated that if a new fire station was to be built near the entrance to the town, the parking concept would also have to be reconsidered.
In order to continue to involve the opinions of the citizens, Thomas Menge finally asked for a spontaneous coordination to the project. The result was clear: 28 citizens spoke out for the construction of the parking lot, 19 were against and seven abstained. This voting result is now used as the basis for the further planning and evaluation of the proposals and critical notes of the wooden houses.
