Tennis club Gotha: Energetic renovation ensures the future and savings!

On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, District Administrator Onno Eckert visited the freshly energetically renovated tennis hall of the Gotha e. V. in Goldbacher Strasse. This renovation is funded by the district with a whopping 10,000 euros! The total costs of the project amount to an impressive 107,500 euros, with the State Sports Association Thuringia e. V. was asked to checkout with 59,320 euros. The tennis sports club itself controls 38,180 euros.

The Halle, a steel beam construction from GDR times, was acquired by the association in the 1990s and has since undergone numerous renovations. Roof renovation, LED lighting and a new sports covering-everything was modernized to ensure competitive operation. Now the energetic renovation is on the plan to bring the building to the latest state of the art and to reduce energy consumption.

Significant savings in sight!

A certified energy consultant estimated the savings to 30-40 percent, which corresponds to around 3,900 to 5,200 euros per winter season. If the association actually reaches the forecast savings, the investment pays for itself in just six to eight years! The tennis hall is used from October to April and is almost fully booked between noon and 8 p.m.

The tennis sports club Gotha e. V., founded in 1928, has experienced a remarkable upswing in the past five years and now has around 215 members, including around 60 children and adolescents under the age of 18. In addition to the site on Reinhardsbrunner Straße, the tennis hall in Goldbacher Strasse also belongs to the club. In the summer season (May to September), the association represents several teams in the highest Thuringian division (Oberliga).
