Gotha shines: New bike path sets a benchmark for sustainable mobility!
An important step for the cycling infrastructure in Gotha: With the completion of the last construction phase of the "Thuringian City Chain", an important milestone in the cycle path network in Germany was reached. Eyecatcher is the official traffic release, which Mayor Knut Kreuch celebrated today together with partners and residents. From now on, the cyclists have a new route of 1.25 km between the Ohrdrufer Straße and the Töpfenber WEG, financed with a total investment of 1.1 million euros, of which around 900,000 euros come from the federal government, such as Gotha Aktuell reported.
comprehensive infrastructure measures 2024
But that's not all! The city of Gotha is planning 22 extensive infrastructural measures for 2024, which include both ceiling renovations and new lines. These construction projects are crucial to meet the traffic requirements of the future. The residents and road users have to expect temporary restrictions, since some main traffic, including Enckestraße and Ohrdrufer Straße, are fully blocked. The city administration has created a tight schedule in coordination of all participants in order to keep the impairments as low as possible, as well as Gotha.de
The construction work for electricity and water pipe are carried out in several districts, and the complex processes require close cooperation with various supply companies. This gives Gotha a sustainable transport network for future generations - but road users should prepare for restrictions and ask for understanding, since each phase of measures entails different challenges.
