Christmas magic in Gera: only a laser show at the opening 2024!

In the festive Advent season, the city center of Gera shines in new splendor, but there are bitter sweetness news for visitors to the popular fairytale market. From November 28th to December 23, 2024, guests can expect a magical atmosphere with over 13 life-size fairy tales and an impressive Christmas tree, which is decorated with 12,764 LED lights. Despite this festive backdrop, Mayor Kurt Dannenberg announced in his press release that the popular laser show, which has been a highlight in recent years, will only take place this year at the opening on November 28th. The financial burden of the high costs of around 4,000 euros per show and other price increases such as GEMA fees have influenced the decision, such as Thuringia24 reported.

A fairy tale is alive

The Geraer fairy tale market will be under the motto "Hans im Glück" this year, the narrative of which is focused on by a festive light and laser effect. At the opening on Thursday, November 28th at 5 p.m., the mayor and Santa Claus will start a bell game, followed by the spectacular laser show and fireworks that transform the marketplace into a wonderland. Every day from 11 a.m., visitors have the opportunity to admire not only the fairy tale pictures, but also to be pampered or take part in fairy tale tours, as can be read on the official side of the city of Gera: Gera.de .

Although the traditional laser show no longer takes place on every Advent Sunday as usual, the fairy tale market with its numerous attractions ensures an unforgettable experience for young and old. The Christmas mood is rounded off by festively decorated fir trees, musical performances on the fairytale market stage and daily consultation hours of Santa Claus.
