EFA workshop in Erfurt: Discover the fascination of the synthesizer!
In recent years, the world of electronic music production has presented itself as a fascinating but often complex domain that can prevent many newcomers. The decision between analog and digital music design is a central point for many. While digital entry may seem easy - software downloaded quickly and tutorials are easily accessible on YouTube, analog music production often requires manual work and a certain technical understanding.
On the first weekend in October, however, in Erfurt the opportunity will be able to immerse yourself in the secrets of analog synthesizers. The workshop "Electrical Frequency Arrangement" (EFA) not only promises educational content, but also creative freedom for experimentation. On October 4th and 5th, experienced musicians: inside, producer: inside and technicians, is offered the stage in order to demry the cable tap, which is often perceived as a chaotic cable and to enable the participants to create their own sound.
a versatile workshop program
The workshop starts on Friday afternoon in the Kickerkeller clubhouse and begins with an entry -level course. Here the base is laid on which the other seminars build up. With a varied program that ends in an open jam session in the evening, the weekend is designed as it were instructive and entertaining. Anyone who brings their own synthesizer is invited to participate.
Toni Manterne, one of the initiators of the EFA series, says: "I don't have to have a plan of what happens. It's about going into the musical river." This reflects the relaxed atmosphere that will prevail throughout the event. The event is part of a growing music education initiative from the region, which aims to share the fascination for electro -acoustic music and win new talents.
A highlight is the possibility to participate in the JAM session that takes place on Friday evening. Around 25 musicians: inside will work together on their instruments to produce live electronic music live. Compared to the previous smaller meetings in Jena, where the so-called "cable" "event offered space for up to ten participants, a completely new dimension of creative exchange is expected. "Everything meets a little more here than with a jazz combo," explains Toni.
focus on creative forms of expression
The workshops as part of the EFA are an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with an expert: inside the synthesizer culture. For example, Hannes Fertala, known in the ChipTune scene under the name "Irq7", introduces the participants to art to integrate the beeping sounds of old video games into analog music production. ChipTune is a form of electronic music inspired by the sound chip of old computers and consoles. This offers a creative insight into the nostalgic sound that strikes a bridge between the past and the present.
Toni Manterne emphasizes that experimenting with analog devices represents an extremely enriching process: “With a bunch of devices in front of you, you can simply put it on and try something cool, even if you don't know what to come out in the end.” This differs fundamentally from the often rigid and lengthy work on the computer, where every step has to be planned exactly.
conditions and details
Participation in the workshops is free of charge, but registration is required. An admission price is only charged for the final event on Saturday evening. From 9 p.m. there will be an appearance with eleven live acts in the Kickerkeller, to which all interested parties are cordially invited. The EFA weekend in Erfurt is a great way to immerse yourself in the world of electronic music and discover new creative ways-whether newcomer or experienced producer.
