217 million euros for Thuringian farmers: This is how the EU will secure the future!

The Thuringian farmers can be happy: by the end of 2024 a total of 217 million euros will flow from the EU to agricultural businesses in the Free State, agricultural minister Colette Boos-John (CDU) announced in Erfurt. These funds are made up of direct payments and compensation payments in EU agricultural policy, which are crucial for the economic security of farmers. According to Priplanta , almost 4,000 companies receive financial support to cover planned expenses by the end of the year. Above all, the direct payments of 196.7 million euros serve the income security and are of great importance for farmers who often provide the environment and economy beyond the mere production of food.

Another positive aspect is that 64.3 million euros are intended for voluntary ecological services. Among other things, these promote biodiversity and sustainable animal husbandry. In addition, 2,200 companies receive compensatory allowances of a total of 21 million euros, which are specially intended for companies that have to operate on less profitable soils and are therefore restricted in their productivity.
