Driver without a driver's license: Six months on probation for Detlef J.
Altenburg. A man from the Altenburger Land, Detlef Jacob*, keeps causing headlines. Despite the loss of his driver's license in 1991, due to alcohol, the 53-year-old continues his behavior by keeping driving without a license. "I lost him through alcohol," said Jacob in court. His criminal record has 20 entries that are mainly associated with driving without a driver's license and drunkenness.
At the Altenburg District Court, Jacob has now been convicted again. Judge Alexander Reichenbach expressed a prison sentence of six months, but was suspended for three years. Because of his numerous criminal records, the judge made it clear that driving without a driver's license, despite his relative carelessness, is a serious matter due to the history. "You can't do a new driver's license for that long," he explained Jacob in the course of the requirements.
alcohol consumption and personal decisions
The circumstances of the conviction were clear. Jacob had taken the car with a blood alcohol value of 0.6 per thousand on Thursday evening to drive home after a day full of after-work beers-he admits to drink five to six beer every day. The police placed him on Selkaer Straße in the Schmöllner district of Lohma, as the officials already knew about his license deprivation. Jacob said that all trains had failed and that he had no choice but to drive.
Richter Reichenbach also recognized Jacob's efforts to improve. He rated his sale of the car and the switch to an e-bike as a conscious decision, which may indicate that Jacob at least tried to change his routines. "Preation is by no means a matter of course here," the judge noted and emphasized that this decision was not made lightly.
During the negotiation, prosecutor Marcus Mündel also played a crucial role. He was not interested in Jacob's way to work, but supported the decision for a suspended sentence after he also recognized the positive changes of the defendant. Werstel also called for a suspended sentence of six months.
last reminder of the judge
Despite these positive aspects, judge Reichenbach Jacob urged again: "Your alcohol consumption is no longer in a healthy area. And an e-bike is not a free ticket. An after-work beer can already be problematic." With these words he wanted to make Jacob clear that in order not to get into difficulties again, he has to work on his behavior.
The judgment is already final, and the question remains whether Jacob will really take the opportunity to improve or whether he will fall back on the old way.
