Great fire in the recycling center: 100 firefighters against huge clouds of smoke!
Reinbek. Shock in recycling operation! A huge major fire in Reinbek has been pounding around and ensures unprecedented smoke development since Saturday evening. Over 100 firefighters from several cities are mobilized, while members of neighboring aid organizations support the brave rescuers with snacks and drinks. A hazard warning was immediately issued for the residents!
The alarm bells rang at around 6:15 p.m.-callers reported on the threatening cloud of smoke above the recycling courtyard on Carl-Zeiss-Straße. In order to master the situation, the alarm level was quickly increased to "Feuer 3" and three extinguishing trains were sent. The fire brigade already had experience with this chaos: in spring a similar scenario had occurred due to a suspected lithium-ion battery edge. Managing Director Ingo Nusseck warned at the time: "Consumers are required to pay more attention in disposal." The fire location, notorious for electronic waste and waste metal, has now struck again!
Details on the use
The fire brigade fought heroically against the meter-high flames, which illuminated the sky red, while the simultaneous smoke spread over the Glinde and Hamburg urban area. With water from a rainwater retention basin and hydrants, the firefighters injected over 500 square meters of burning scrap, which piled up five to six meters high.
Respiratory protection device wearers were essential to too close to the stove. These heroes changed every 30 minutes and got rid of their contaminated equipment on the hygiene vehicle. Due to the enormous need for respiratory protection staff, reinforcements were requested at an early stage. The operations management assumes that striking use will continue until Sunday. The dramatic incident does not remain unnoticed - the whole region with fear of looking at the sky!
