Security feeling in Bad Segeberg: survey shows alarming numbers!

Bad Segeberg. In Bad Segeberg, the fear of women is now officially documented in the dark! A survey carried out by the Academy for Applied Business Psychology led by Professor Dr. Achim Wortmann, has delivered alarming results. Citizens feel insecure, and not only in the dark! The city administration hopes for a better assessment of the security situation and a solid basis for future decisions.

A total of 404 citizens took part in the survey, with 56.4 percent women and 42.8 percent men. The majority of the respondents, especially women, stated that they feel unsafe in the evening or at night in Bad Segeberg. Almost 60 percent of the participants classify the security in the city as "rather insecure" or "very insecure" after dark. It is particularly worrying that the security problem this year was one of the dominant topics, with frequent reports on offenses such as robbery, assault and theft.

Safety problem in Bad Segeberg

The survey shows that citizens perceive primarily harassment (67 percent) and property damage (64 percent) as the most common security problems. The city center, the ZOB and the lake promenade in particular are avoided in the evening. Citizens are calling for more police presence (73 percent) and better lighting, while the proposal for video surveillance from the CDU comes back to the agenda. Mayor Toni Köppen announced that the results of the survey will be discussed in January.

The survey has also shown that younger and older people are underrepresented, which could lead to a distortion of the results. The city of Bad Segeberg, now part of the “Shot” project for investigating security questions, urgently needs to act in order to improve the feeling of security of its citizens. People are concerned and require solutions!
