Henstedt-Ulzburg. The committed volunteers of the Redeemer Church are awarded the citizens' award of the municipality of Henstedt-Ulzburg! This prize is a deserved recognition for over ten years of tireless efforts to offer a free community dinner every Wednesday that not only breaks hunger but also promotes community.

In the middle of the action, the loyal helpers Annemarie Winter, Ingrid Schmuck, Helga Czerwinski, Hannelore Kröplin, Gisela Abel and Karla Wilkens. Annemarie, the main organizer, launched the project with heart and passion. "Annemarie cooks great!" The unanimous praise of her colleagues was. Every Wednesday there are an average of 40 guests who can sit in a warm atmosphere and enjoy their meals. A donation box is ready - and it is not only cooked, but also bought for the next week, depending on what the donations give. But the increasing food prices do not stop at the volunteer cooks, which is why the team is very happy about the prize money of 500 euros in order to finally be able to offer more meat again.

The visitors to the municipal eating are just as colorful as the dishes: from families to seniors and refugees-everyone is welcome. The organizers emphasize that everyone can come without fear: "Nobody needs to have inhibition thresholds!" The mayor Henry Danielski and his wife are occasionally guests. "It's not just about eating, but about the community," said the volunteers. Mayor Ulrike Schmidt and Danielski report a record number of proposals for the Citizens' Prize 2024; The jury agreed: this group is the worthy award winner!
