AfD plans local association in Bad Segeberg: The rise of the right!
in Bad Segeberg something is happening in the political landscape: The local district association of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) is planning to found a new local association that is supposed to represent the cities of Bad Segeberg and Wahlstedt. Julian Flak, the spokesman for the district association, sees this step as necessary in order to better do justice to the requirements and challenges that affect the region.
Traditionally, the AfD in the eastern part of the Segeberg district, consisting of cities such as Leezen and Boostedt, has shown a rather weak presence. So far, local associations only exist in the west and at the Hamburg border, where the AfD in cities such as Kaltenkirchen and Norderstedt was able to acquire some seats in the city council. In the last local election, the AfD was also able to win seven members in the Segeberger district council.
planned foundation and further integration
Flak said that the new local association is expected to include only a few surrounding villages, especially Schackendorf and Fahrenkrug. This decision results from the fact that these four municipalities interact as a so -called middle center, in which there are similar challenges - in particular through the state accommodation for refugees and the asylum accommodation in Schackendorf. A final decision on whether other cities are being integrated into the new local association is still pending, but Flak is optimistic about the development.
However, whether the founding meeting can take place this year remains unclear. Flak emphasizes that the priority is to create a solid structure before you go on the offensive. The members of the district board have a lot to do at the end of the year, especially in the budget consultations of many municipalities.
outlook on the municipal elections 2028
The AfD plans to compete in Bad Segeberg in 2028. This voting intent shows the growing influence of the party, which has already achieved 13 percent of the votes in the last local elections in Kaltenkirchen. In Wahlstedt in particular, the encouragement also increased noticeably. In view of the political tensions that can already be felt in the city, the new foundation could be an answer to the increasing influence of the AfD.
In the next meeting in November, the town hall factions from Bad Segeberg want to decide on a resolution that is directed against the AfD. This is a renewed refreshment of the "Resolution of the Democrats" from 2020 - a clear indication that political competition is very precisely pursuing the activities of the AfD. Flak describes this reaction as an act of despair and accusation that many protagonists of the other parties cannot deal with the success of the AfD.
There are discussions about the person Torben Miehle, who plays a central role in the upcoming foundation. Miehle has had a changeable political career, from the AfD to Greens and FDP back to the AfD. His return to the party and its more radical views could cause tensions, even if Flak assures that it is regularly in contact with Mühle and the AfD makes sure that the tone remains respectful both in the district council and within the party.
Overall, the situation in Bad Segeberg is tense: it remains to be seen how the political landscape will develop, especially with regard to the upcoming foundation of the new local association and its effects on the upcoming elections.
