Christmas business in danger: shortage of skilled workers threatens punctual delivery!

Schleswig-Holstein, Deutschland - alarm mood in the logistics industry! The Federal Association of Logistics beats the big bell: delivery bottlenecks in the Christmas business threaten! The reason? An acute shortage of skilled workers and overloaded truck capacities! While the run -up to Christmas is at the door, the industry is required to bring gifts to customers in time. But the reality looks dark!

Dirk Engelhardt, the spokesman for the Board of Directors of the Federal Association of Logistics and Disposal (BGL), warns: "The truck capacities are scarce, massive delays are inevitable!" The Situation is exacerbated by a lack of freight forwarders and haulage companies. It looks a little better in Schleswig-Holstein, but around 1,500 truck drivers are also missing here! Thomas Rackow, Managing Director of the Logistics Association of Schleswig-Holstein, is optimistic: "The gifts are under the Christmas tree!"

delays also possible in Schleswig-Holstein

Caution! Small delays are not excluded. Rackow admits that the freight forwarders in Schleswig-Holstein had to reduce the number of their transport vehicles due to the lack of driver. "We can't just work anymore because the steering and travel times are limited," he explains. The small, family -run companies in the region are better organized than their counterparts in other federal states, but the challenges are enormous!

The logistics industry is therefore faced with a huge challenge while the Christmas season is closer. The increasing operating costs and the lack of specialists are increasing to the companies. The question remains: will the gifts arrive in time or do customers have to prepare for nasty surprises?
