Schönberg: Mayor warns against increases in property tax for owners
Schönberg. A hot topic is bubbling in the community! The new version of the basic taxes is just around the corner and the excitement is noticeable. Schleswig-Holstein has made clear recommendations: the lifting rates should be determined in such a way that the municipalities do not have to expect higher income from property tax A and B. This means that the new setting should take place neutral. But what does that mean specifically for the property owners?
The mayor of Schönberg, Peter Kokocinski (SPD), has clearly positioned itself. He recommends taking over the country's proposals. But be careful! Some owners could expect higher payments, while others may have to pay less. The reason for this new setting? A fairer assessment of the land that takes into account not only the size, but also the location. The main and finance committee will be discussed on Tuesday, November 12th.
Property Tax adjustments in Schönberg
The numbers are alarming! According to the transparency register of the Ministry of Finance, property tax A for agricultural companies is increased to 437 percentage points - an increase of 57 points! And property tax B, which affects most of the landowners, rises from 425 to 489 percentage points - that is 64 more points! But the trade tax remains stable at 380 percentage points. However, Mayor Kokocinski warns that the municipality could deviate from these recommended lifting rates to compensate for the budget deficit. The temptation is great!
"We should now say goodbye to the statutes and go to the budget consultations with a clear direction of march," emphasizes Kokocinski. The municipality has time until June 30, 2025 to adapt its lifting rates if the budgetary situation requires it. The tension increases - how will the community decide?
